Buckaroo Ball A Success!

Our annual Buckaroo Ball was again a huge hit!  Held May 30, 2009 at the Rio Cibolo Ranch in Marion, TX, this event was a fun, kick-up-your-heels event in true Texas style!  Thank you to all who sponsored, attended and supported this fantastic evening.  Don't miss taking a peek at our photo album and mark your calendars for next year in late May - you won't want to miss it!

Bulverde Campus Holds Annual Kid's Awards Banquet

The Bulverde Campus had its annual Kid’s Awards Banquet this month to celebrate our children’s achievements throughout this past year both at school and at home on the Ranch. We gathered our Ranch friends and family to celebrate and by kid’s choice had a pizza party and ice cream social - big hits with the kids and even a few adults! Every child was honored for their accomplishments - no deed is too small to honor! The awards ranged from best reader and most helpful at home to best big brother and most likely to become an engineer! Be sure to visit our photo album.

St. Jude's Ranch Mourns Ed McMahon's Passing

Words can not express our sadness at yesterday's news regarding the passing of Ed McMahon.  He was a longtime supporter of St. Jude's Ranch and the children.  Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, his friends and all those whose lives he touched.  He will be very dearly missed.

First Afternoon Delight Summer Series Event a Great Success!

This post comes to us from Deborah Scott, our Gift Shop & Resale Boutique retail operations manager who updates us on our first ever "Afternoon Delight Summer Series" held recently.

Our first Afternoon Delight was a great success thanks to the generous participation of one of Las Vegas’ fabulous performers, Audrei Kairen. We had an incredible time at the Gift Shop June 13, 2009…shopping, shopping, and shopping! What’s more, our customers sat back and relaxed to intimate jazz that afternoon. We made many new friends and customers and we were pleased to see so many of our St. Jude’s Ranch Volunteers come out to support this event! Complimentary coffee was provided by Colorado River Coffee Roasters, all inclusive with a little education of the life of a coffee bean. Thanks Sally, you really made a great presentation. Rolling the dice took on a whole new meaning, and our customers were pleased to get a wonderful discount with every roll. We look forward to our next Afternoon Delight on June 27, 2009. Shopping, savings, music and coffee….what an enjoyable way to spend the day and contributing to the support of our kids!

The Queens of Myoho - This is a new concept in music explaining Buddhist information to Hip Hop, Reggae, and R&B sounds. I chose the name Queens of Myoho because Queen relates to woman in her higher state, in an exalted state where she is honored and expected.

August 22, 2009:
Coren Zai - This Blues Beauty really knows how to entertain her audiences. She performs with precision, allowing everyone to embrace her vocal talent. Performing in Las Vegas, we are happy to bring you this extraordinary talent to our Afternoon Delight Summer Series.

St. Jude's Ranch Receives $90,000 Donation

 Each year a few hundred folks get together in San Antonio, TX and organize a car show that takes place in Boerne, TX in April.  The Texas Corvette Association has been doing it's annual car show for over 17 years.  In 2000, following a desire to ensure donated funds were making a difference in a measurable and effective way, the TCA board decided to adopt St. Jude’s Ranch for Children as the charity of choice and primary benefactor of the proceeds raised at the event.  

In 2007, the event also became became an Official Fiesta^® San Antonio event.  Today, the TCA supports a variety of causes but it’s relationship with St. Jude’s Ranch for Children is it’s primary philanthropic focus and this year's car show did not disappoint!  Despite rain in the morning, hundreds of cars and thousands more people came to the Main Square in Boerne, TX to see incredible cars, meet new friends, participate in a silent auction and have fun.  The result?  $90,000 was raised and donated to St. Jude's Ranch.  We are so very grateful and appreciative for all the TCA does for the children!  THANK YOU!!

 

New Braunfels and Bulverde, TX Campuses Receive Donation

The Resort Course at La Cantera Golf Club in San Antonio , Texas was home to the 2009 Valero Texas Open.  Co-hosted by Golf San Antonio (www.golfsanantonio.org) and Valero Energy Corporation (www.valero.com), the tournament is the third oldest PGA TOUR tournament.  The 72 hole, four day official PGA TOUR event was held Monday May 11 thru Sunday May 17, 2009 with players competing for a total purse of more than $6 million.  A tradition since 1922, the tournament benefits numerous charities including our Emergency Shelter in New Braunfels and our Bulverde campus.  This year's donation totaled $50,000 and we are so very grateful!  THANK YOU!!
